Just out here enjoying a fish cake w/ a view 😌
There are many scenic points around downtown Lisbon accessible on foot or w/ a public elevator. Santa Justa Lift is the only one we chose to avoid, the wait is very long & you can access the viewing platform through an alley next to the Carmo Archaeological Museum.

One of my favourite things to do while traveling is street food tours early on in the trip. They’re typically run by knowledgeable locals & are a great way to get to know the city.
We booked this Lisbon Ultimate Food & Wine Tour w/ @thetourguy, the tour is operated by @insidelisbon & they throughly vet all stops for quality & authenticity.
There were 6 stops tasting local favourites like fish cakes, vinho verde, beefana sandwiches, fish rice & table-side roasted chorizo...
Great tour, great guide (thank you Phillip) & a great group of travellers to share this meal with 😃

Meet Defne, she’s one of Traveling Spoon’s local experience hosts in Lisbon. I visited Defne in her home for a cooking lesson & lunch, one of the hyper local experiences the company offers.
Traveling Spoon taps into the sharing economy creating authentic (and sustainable) culinary experiences in 233 cities across 70 countries.
Defne’s personal values very much align w/ those of the organization, looking at food as glue that binds us. For today’s meal, she worked to prepare simple yet delicious options guests can replicate at home.
We shared a hearty salad as a starter (called Grao de bico bacalhau) & Caldeirada de peixe (fisherman’s stew) as the main, among other treats ☕️. Both dishes reflect Defne’s Turkish heritage & Portuguese culture, layering flavours w/ fresh ingredients & herbs grown in her garden.
We spent our shared afternoon cooking, chatting about food, heritage & travel, a uniquely authentic way to see Portugal through the eyes (and tastebuds) of a local 🥄
And yes, there was vinho verde 😌
