Located across the lake from Botanical Gardens and a short subway ride from anything else you might want to go to, from cultural destinations to restaurants and bars, Paasi was our first love in Finland.
For this 4-day stay in Helsinki, a couple of friends and I had the pleasure of staying in one of Scandic Paasi* Superior rooms. The room has a king-size bed, pullout sofa, sculptural coffee table, HD TV. Much like the rest of the rooms, it is equipped with a minibar, coffeemaker, and bathrobes-plus-slippers combo I wanted to live in. Continuing on with the luxury the bathroom was fully stocked with FACE Stockholm products – huggable softness all around.

Ground floor reception turns into a cocktail bar. In the evening a bartender will serve up Finnish gin and tonics with lingonberries and rosemary to the temporary residents. Believe me, when I say, people feel comfortably at home here. The breakfast at the hotel is worth waking up early for, we didn’t the first day and there were regrets. Paasi offers a full buffet breakfast every day stocked with authentic finish dishes and European favorites with a dash of worldly love (read: bacon and eggs).
Much like everything in Helsinki Scandic Paasi* is a designer hotel. At first glance, you notice the colorful décor and an avid variety of lights. But the more time you spend there the more you will notice that your experience is curated. Looking past the décor visitor’s interactions are also designed. The entrance doors automatically open as you approach the hotel, the emergency map glows in the dark, the elevator is activated with your keycard (no strangers in this house), and your fresh morning juice selection is made and dispensed using an iPad.
The staff at the hotel are as expected – friendly and helpful, and while the city kept on pleasantly surprising us Paasi was a place we were genuinely looking forward to coming back to every night.
