This Friday was spent eating. But not like an average day of eating – I had the pleasure of joining @suresh on one of his guided, informative food tours of Scarborough.
We visited amazing family owned food spots, talked about food culture, authenticity & history, all in great company 😌

📍New Kalyani Take Out/Catering for freshly made appam, Tamil/Srilankan breakfast dish with creamy coconut and then some fresh mutton curry and dal made by Suresh’s mom @new_kalyani_take_out
📍Inner Circle Caribbean Cuisine for doubles, a Trinidadian breakfast dish made w/ curried chickpeas served on two fried flatbreads @innercirclecuisine
📍Shankar & Co is a gift shop with a food section, all food here is homemade by the neighbours, we had kozhukattai, a steamed rice dumpling
📍Kostas Bakery for tiropita, Kostas family make their own phyllo! @kostas_bakery
📍Kostas Meat Market & Deli for fresh, barrel-aged feta cheese @kostas_meat_market

Earlier this year I had an opportunity to see a documentary about a Canadian cave diver, Jill Heinerth, called Diving Into The Darkness: Never Cave Into Fear. Jill’s expeditions and scientific discoveries are incredibly inspiring so when Asia Pacific Boating was looking for stories on intrepid travellers for the Blue Planet section of the magazine I immediately jumped on that call with a pitch.

7. Chopped tomatoes, seasoned for tomato toast. You can also see grilled sardines in the corner there, which turns out is not fish many people like 😅
