Kingston architecture is worthy of attention, and the newly renovated Belvedere Hotel is no exception. Over the years, this 19th-century property served as a family home, Chateau Belvedere hotel, and, as of 2025, The Belvedere Hotel. Kingston’s Benjamin Hotels spent nearly five years restoring the hotel before opening it as a luxury boutique property in the heart of Kingston. The striking Victorian-style chateau, painted in Gothic-style dark colours with gold trims, stands out from its neighbours and immediately draws you in.

After opening its doors in 2025, The Belvedere Hotel continued the improvements, working on the Bathhouse and additional rooms in the Carriage House, both of which opened in the summer of 2026. The property occupies multiple spaces with common areas and the Peacock Lounge set in the main house. The European bathhouse takes up the lower level and the outdoor area between the main building and the Carriage House. From the street, passersby can see an inviting outdoor terrace and a dramatic chandelier in the front window, glowing in the evening light. Very quickly, The Belvedere Hotel became Kingston’s most glamorous place to stay and was awarded one Michelin Key in the 2026 guide (one of thirteen Michelin Keys in Ontario).

Inside the Suite
There are 29 rooms at the hotel, split between two buildings: 19 in the main house and 10 in the Carriage House. The rooms are comfortable and unique, designed by the in-house team, Liv Halliday and Tara Magee. Guest options include Queen and King rooms (some with a terrace), and a spacious Corner Suite. The Carriage House rooms are slightly different, boldly embracing the exposed limestone and poured concrete, contrasted by mid-century furnishings and clean pastel bathroom tiles. The King Premium Loft, for example, spreads across two floors with a view of the Bathhouse, bedroom on the ground and kitchenette plus sitting area on the mezzanine.
Each room is equipped with standard amenities, bathrobes, steamers, and spa bath products, bringing that relaxing Bathhouse feeling into the room.

The Peacock Lounge
The on-site restaurant is led by chef Matt DeMille (LeSelect Bistro, Enoteca Sociale, Parts & Labour), whose menu is focused on simple and seasonal high-quality ingredients. The lounge is open throughout the day, offering a selection of shareable plates, salads, and fresh-made sandwiches. The daily breakfast is served until 10 AM. Embracing the European breakfast tradition, this is a small buffet with a hearty selection of cheeses, cold cuts, pastries and jams, yoghurt, and fresh fruit.
The lounge decor matches the rest of the hotel perfectly with dark green accents, heavy curtains, decorative mirrors, and stained glass touches. Exiting through the side, hotel guests and visitors gain access to a small terrace, shaded by trees with an unobstructed view of the street. In the summer, the hotel hosts live music performances on the patio, embracing the deep musical culture of the city.

The Bathhouse
The on-premises spa, open to guests and city locals, invites visitors in for a classic thermal bath experience. The Bathhouse interior has a cold and heated bath, dry sauna, relaxation area, and showers. The space is perfectly fitted to the original structure, flowing around red brick, wooden beams, and arches, it is somewhat reminiscent of Bath, England. Outside, guests will find another set of baths (hot and cold), a dry sauna, and a partially covered relaxation area heated by a wood fire.
The Bathhouse is not included in the standard room rate; guests can choose a package which includes spa access or book it at leisure with the front desk. Hotel guests are offered a discounted rate for the spa.
